Skiing in Autumn
Experience unlimited skiing fun on Austria's biggest glacier area accessible for winter sport fans. Naturapart Zuckerhütl - located in close vicinity to the glacier road - makes an ideal base for exploring the wonderful 20 km² ski slopes of Rettenbach and Tiefenbach glacier. By car (approx. 10 min, 12 km) or by bus you can easily reach the ski slopes. Both glaciers are connected to each other by a 1.7 km road tunnel ("Rosi Mittermeier Tunnel"). Skiers can enjoy a truly unique linked ski area by using the splendid ski tunnel at 3,240 m above sea level between the 37 km of immaculate ski runs of Rettenbach glacier and Tiefenbach glacier. Additionally, 10 state-of-the-art mountain lifts with a total hourly capacity of some 20,000 persons guarantee unlimited skiing pleasures in the pre-winter season. While Tiefenbach glacier features gently sloping terrain for less experienced winter sport enthusiasts, Rettenbach glacier has a couple of steep and demanding slopes for advanced skiers.
The yearly held World Cup events rank among the undisputed highlights in autumn: first and foremost the men's and women's FIS Alpine Ski World Cup Opening in late October at Rettenbach glacier.
